A very red city in a very red state

I am a far left liberal. I've lived here for almost 40 years and I have only 2 friends. So keep that in mind when I tell you that South Carolina is as far right as any state in the union. Race, religion, science, national defense, the arts ... you name it and South Carolina is stuck in the 1960s.

South Carolina used changed from Democrats to Republicans in late 50s when the Democratic part championed desegregation. That’s when the state went solid red. That should tell you a lot about politics in South Carolina.

You should probably get your facts straight if you want to make a point. Democrats opposed desegregation. Completely opposed it (ever hear of the dixie-crats). That’s right; the southern racists that opposed desegregation were in fact democrats. It’s why MLK, even though he opposed every single republican policy except one, was in fact a republican. I would recommend doing about 5 seconds of research before you write something so completely wrong or at least not mention your political affiliation as you undermine your entire cause as at best you look ignorant or at worst a blatant liar.

You are not alone! I am working within the Democratic party here to try and make some changes in this state. (don't laugh!) We almost had a Dem governor-there is a Progressive party within the Democratic party who is working very hard right now on the new Voter ID law-will involve a suit in all probability, and the redistricting is under scrutiny with the Feds because of gerrymandering. Jane Dyer won in my county against Jeff Duncan-let's work hard against him in '12. McCormick County resident
